The Return of the Quest

For the past couple of months, I had a struggle against myself. I've been too lazy to go back studying. Maybe it's because of the delayed release of the board exam result. Instead of reading review books, I learned new jutsus with Naruto and continued tough missions with other shinobis. I even zoomed with Harry using my Nimbus 2000, casted complex spells and incantations with Hermione and overcame fears with Ron. Also, I fought side by side with Ichigo and defeated bunch of hollows. Moreover, I ranted with Kevjumba and performed comedy sketches with Happyslip. But the time has come to go back to my own quest.
At the break of dawn, I'll set my feet on the road again. I am on my new quest level: NCLEX-RN (National Council Licensure Examination- Registered Nurse: an international nursing exam) Review. I am fully aware of the difficulty of this new quest level. Though my sidetracks may seem rubbish, I acquired precious values that will shield me against the nemeses: courage, humilty, patience, optimism and Faith.
May the Divine Providence guide me, not only for this quest but in all of my journeys ahead.
P.S.
In fairness to myself, I wasn't really a total bum. Okay. Because for the last few weeks, I was reading and reviewing my book. So yeah! Anyways, I need to go sleep now coz I'll be waking up at 5am. Yosh yosh (jap word: alright)! Sayonara (jap word: bye)!

For the life YOU bestowed upon me
For the 9 months I spent inside YOU
For the footprints YOU left that I follow
For the hand YOU offered when i stumbled
For the hug YOU gave that insulated me
For the light YOU shone when darkness reigned in me
For the smile YOU shared when frown was all I had
For the color YOU shaded in my portrait
For being one of the YOU
I want to say THANK YOU...

Today, we celebrate our first National Thank You Day to promote an act which is now often being taken for granted. Let us give our gratitude to people who deserve our deepest thanks.

JUBILANCE

Life isnt always winning battles. Some point in our lives, we stumble, we fall. The fire within us loses its blaze. We hide in darkness, filled with terror. Terror of falling again. But it isnt suppose to end there.
Our failure in battles has its indispensable purpose. Though we cannot decipher its cryptic value instantly, we will, as we walk along the road.
From then on, lets pick the shattered pieces of ourselves. Bit by bit, we assemble the pieces and create the new us.
Whatever storm may come our way. Whatever obstacle, come what may. We must never give up. We must never lose hope. Lets stand up and triumph this never-ending battle of our lives.

ALERT: WHITE PEOPLE INVASION

A report has been made that a vast number of "white people" were seen rushing to Cubao, Quezon City. Many who witnessed these event were puzzled and some maybe terrified. But these puzzled individuals were assured by the public officials of their safety. These "white people" seem to be harmless. Infact, they seem to be nurturing and kind hearted. Thousands of them were spotted coming from everywhere. The exact location to where this people were heading to has been discovered. It's in the Araneta Coliseum.

But who were these "white people"? Why were they heading to Araneta Coliseum?

I have the answers to these questions and to this whole puzzlement. I have the answers coz I was one of these "white people". We were tagged as white people coz we were actually wearing our white uniform. Why Araneta Coliseum? Coz its the venue for an important solemn ceremony.

This solemn ceremony is the so-called Oath Taking Ceremony. This event was attended by us, the June 2007 Nursing Board Passers. We vowed our pledge that we, as New Nurses, will do all in our power to practice our profession faithfully (lol, from Nightingale's pledge itself) and to exercise professionalism, patriotism and personal governance (lmao, part of the Dr. Estanislao's message).

SULONG NURSES SULONG! (go nurses--for my foreign readers, rofl, as if i have)

ANXIETY OVER: THE BOARD EXAM RESULTS FINALLY RELEASED

For the months I waited, its like hell. Everday I wake up anxious if it would be the day of verdict. I received messages telling me that the results were already released or that its due on this day blah blah. Too bad I received it while eating and for that, I couldn't eat anymore. There was this one time, I received one of those messages at the moment I was going up the stairs. I was trembling, my whole body was. I couldn't walk anymore. I kept asking myself, Am I going to pass? Just like always, its a false alarm. The cousin of my classmate was making fun of her.

Graduating with honors isnt that good. I carry alot of pressures and expectations. I kept on thinking what if I don't make it. Its truly a nightmare. I just hold on to what my friend told me what he did everytime he's on the brink, he talked to God. That's what I did and the next thing I knew, negativities were gone.

"By the end of August", the day that was written in the newspaper that the results will be released. As the day drew near, I became more anxious. I once had a terrible dream. It was a night filled with three different scenes but has the same story. It was about my failure in the board exam. The next morning, my body was heavy and I couldnt get up. I was thinking of the dream I had. They said that dreams are the opposite of what may happen. I just prayed that the saying is real.

Until 12 noon of 26th of August, I received a message that the result will be released later that evening. Of all the messages I received, I felt this was different. I thought that it was for real. My heart was pounding. I was in Laguna then. We don't have internet connection at home. I couldn't stand the idea of waiting for someone's text message about the result. I visited San Roque church near our home to relieve the anxiety I was feeling.

Later that day at around 6pm, I was at my cousin's newly-built home for the blessing. I was eating then when Kuya PJ, my cousin, suddenly aprroached me from my seat telling me I passed the board. After hearing the words that came from his mouth, my surroundings were moving slowly. My own voice was running in my head: Did I hear it right? I passed the exam? Or is it a joke from Kuya PJ. But he wouldn't dare do it. Coz he knows its not a good joke.

I couldn't believe at first. I wanted to see it for myself. We decided to go to Ate Hannah's home coz they have an internet connection. We rode a tricycle. I sat near the driver so I can be seen by other people. While we're on our way I was praying and crying. Tears are rushing down like a river. I didnt care much of what other people's gonna say. Finally we arrived. We hurriedly went inside Ate Hannah's room and opened the latop. As I clicked on the mouse and typed in the website, I felt I was gonna throw up (FYI: this is normal for me everytime Im very nervous). Finally, I opened the site. The result was in a pdf file. As i drag the page on the D surnames, I was telling myself: This is it! And there...my name was really there. What joy I felt as I read my name. I kept on crying. I remembered the dream I had that I failed the exam. So I can attest to the saying that dreams are really the opposite of what may happen.

I went back to San Roque church and still the tears kept on falling as I whisper my prayers to God.

LIFE'S SHADOW

In my speech class, we were required to do our own speech. The story behind this was that I don't wanna make a speech that deals with the usual stuff. Friendship, love etc. So I thought, about making a speech about death. Which is soo fearful. It was nostalgic. I made this 2005. Oh well, here it is, Life's Shadow...

When I was a little boy, every time I watch movies that end with the children’s father or mother facing death, I cried. But I never entertained this reality even at my wildest dreams.

Death is defined as the cessation of life as indicated by the absence of all vital signs. It is a state of complete interruption of bodily processes.

Death, like what others say, is like a thief in the night. It is vicious and cruel. You’ll never know when and where your lives will be stolen and how it will be taken. It brings anguish and desolation.

Death has many faces. Natural death is caused by aging or chronic illness. Others may be caused by accidents, murder or suicide. But whatever faces it maybe; death is still death. It is painful and agonizing.

Death is the last piece of one’s puzzle. The puzzle will not be completed if this last piece is missing. Similar to our lives, it will not be completed if there’s no death. It is said that when one dies, it means that his purpose is already accomplished and his journey ends there.

Death remains the greatest fear of mankind.

I have my fear. This fear extends in losing a loved one. Another loved one. I witnessed the last breath of my grandmother and grandfather who were both very close to me. I felt the pain inside me. I almost lost my little sister. I thank and praise God for His miraculous ways. My sister’s life was saved.

Almost two years had passed, since my father withhold his battle against death. I was wounded then. And this left a scar that will always remind me of the past. His death molded me to become a stronger individual. It inspired me to do things at its best.

We should learn how to accept death. With this phenomenon, we must use the things that we acquired as our armor on the next battle of our lives.

I must admit to all of you that I, myself, am scared to meet this thief in the night or to see it stealing another life of the one I love.

I will always be the little boy who cries while watching death scenes in the movies. But there’s a huge difference. In front of me is the reality that death is part of life.
